Annual Avon u12 restrictedWritten by: Jane Hopton
Bright and early Sunday morning 17 boys arrived at St Ursula's for the Annual Avon u12. The girls weren't due until 12:30 The boys were divided into two boxes to ensure they had plenty of games.
The winner of box 2 was hotly contested, Callum O'Callaghan winning seven of his eight games being the eventual winner of the box. With a three way tie for second place. Elliot Joyner, Dominic Hall-Thomas and Nathan Day all winning 6 games a piece, had a nail biting time as points were added up. Nathan eventually being awarded 2nd place by 7 points.
Excellent play ensured exciting semi finals with Aidan and Callum winning through. In an exciting final where the score does not reflect the closeness of some of the rallies, Aidan was victorious.
Excellent play boys.
This tournament can be particularly challenging for the club and school players meeting Avon juniors for the first time, so it was good to see some doing very well.
The boys doubles.
After some excellent games and an exciting semi final between Fenton Fleming & James Swift VS. Dominic Hall-Thomas & Callum O'Callaghan and Aidan Gibbons & Conner Williams-Hicks VS. Elliot Joyner & Luke Morgan the final was won by Aidan and Conner.
The girls tournament was very challenging for many of the girls entering but they fought hard in both singles and doubles.
