U13s V Dorset Away Shires

Written by: Lynne Joyner

Without our number 1 boy, we set off for a second weekend in a row to Dorset for a Shires League match (last week was a South West match in Dorset).

We got off to a promising start in which both mixed games went to 3, played by Elliot Joyner/Kirby Ngan at number 1 pair and Luke Morgan/Megan Foreman at number 2.  We were narrowly defeated both times.  Luke played "out of his skin", his best performance so far in which he lost by the smallest of margins in 3.

Megan was the only team player to win her singles although this wasn't easy for her but she maintained her composure as ever and won it in 3 games.  Well done!

Elliot and Luke both played thrilling doubles games together but didn't have enough energy to over come their strong opponents.  James Swift battled well with Harry Miles, a year 6 making his debut performance but their determination wasn't enough to win, a brilliant effort!

Kirby and Megan won both their level doubles comfortably but for Elise Cory and Emily Baynes who despite losing, are continuing to improve rapidly and maintain their cheerfulness and wonderful attitude throughout all their matches.

Well done team!  The score of 17-3 does not do justice to a great effort and some difficult well fought games!
